Giovedì 24 e venerdì 25 novembre 2022 alle ore 15, presso il Museo d’Arte Orientale di Venezia, il maestro Hiroki KIYOKAWA incontrerà il pubblico per spiegare la tecnica giapponese del kintsugi anche attraverso una dimostrazione pratica.

Questa tecnica utilizza principalmente lacca (urushi) e polvere d’oro, e comporta una lavorazione di lunga durata, dai 2 ai 3 mesi, anche per la lenta asciugatura della lacca. 

Il maestro illustrerà la storia, i materiali, gli strumenti di una pratica di grande fascino, che, oltre alle valenze conservative, ha interessanti connotati estetici. 

L'evento, incluso nel biglietto di ingresso al Museo, è promosso dall’Ambasciata del Giappone presso la Santa Sede, nell’ambito delle manifestazioni per l’ottantesimo anniversario delle relazioni diplomatiche tra Giappone e Santa Sede.

Thursday 24 and Friday 25 November 2022, at 3 p.m., at the Museum of Oriental Art in Venice, master Hiroki KIYOKAWA will meet the public to explain the Japanese traditional technique of kintsugi even through a practical session.

This technique uses above all lacquer (urushi) and gold powder: the restoration process takes 2 or 3 months, including the drying time of the lacquer. 

The master will tell the history, the materials and the tools of a very fascinating art, that, beside the conservative value, has interesting aesthetic aspects. 

The event, included in the entrance ticket to the Museum, is promoted by Embassy of Japan to the Holy See, for the80th anniversary of the diplomatic relations with the Holy See.
